According to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the Supreme Court is unlikely to overturn the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The EIU had previously predicted Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election, where he won with 36.6 percent of the vote.
Although the election result is being contested in court, the EIU does not expect it to be overturned.
The EIU said: “Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, won the February presidential election with only 36.6 percent of the vote.
“The result is being contested in court, but EIU does not expect it to be overturned.”
The EIU also noted that there was support for Peter Obi of the fringe Labour Party in the presidential election, indicating frustration with the two-party system.
The EIU predicts that Obi will become a more formidable force in future elections, particularly in 2027.
In response to criticism of the 2023 presidential election, a group of All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups stated that only God can unseat Tinubu as Nigeria’s president.
