The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a statement condemning the recent killings of policemen and civilians in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State by criminal elements.

The group emphasized that it is a peaceful movement seeking self-determination and disassociated itself from any violent or criminal activities.

According to IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group seeks to create a calm and peaceful environment in their territory, and it has never been their objective to scare or kill innocent citizens of the area.

The group also accused the Federal Government of using state actors and non-state actors to create insecurity and chaos in the South-East just to blackmail IPOB through compromised media agencies and agents.

IPOB warned the paid criminals in the South-East to stay off Biafraland or face the consequences, adding that they have already been declared wanted by the group, and their sins will catch up with them soon.

It should be recalled that on April 21, gunmen killed five policemen and the owner of a restaurant in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State.

IPOB has consistently denied any involvement in violent acts in the South-East and called for a peaceful resolution to the issues surrounding their agitation for self-determination.
