Former Chelsea striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has recently shared his experience during his season-long stint at the club. Aubameyang, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2022, faced numerous challenges during his time at Stamford Bridge.
The Gabonese forward, who had only left Arsenal for Barcelona six months prior, made the move to Chelsea on the recommendation of then-manager Thomas Tuchel.
However, he struggled to make a significant impact throughout the campaign and was eventually delisted from the UEFA Champions League squad.
In an interview with L’Equipe, Aubameyang expressed his disappointment and frustration with his spell at Stamford Bridge.
He revealed, “I understood from December that the season was over. I already wanted to leave, but you can’t play for more than three clubs.”
The striker also reflected on his mindset during this challenging period, stating, “I asked myself, ‘Is this what it means to be old?’ and I answered, ‘It’s you who decides.’ Either you decide to follow this path and say to yourself, ‘Maybe it’s old age,’ or you say, ‘No, that’s bullsh*t, I still have things to do.'”
Despite the difficulties faced at Chelsea, Aubameyang has since moved on and joined Olympique Marseille last summer.
