There are reports suggesting that President Bola Tinubu is planning to strengthen his political base in the North through ministerial appointments.

It is said that he will allocate an additional ministerial slot to Kaduna state as part of his political strategy to gain more support in the North and to compensate the North West zone for their massive support in the 2023 General election.

According to a source from Aso Rock Presidential Villa, a former Governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Honourable Sani Sha’aban, is being considered for the second ministerial slot for Kaduna State.

Sha’aban is a close ally of President Tinubu and a foundation member of the ACN.

The source also mentioned that President Tinubu is torn between choosing the second minister from either Kaduna or Kano State, but the odds seem to favor Sha’aban due to his relationship with President Tinubu and his involvement in the ACN.

The appointment of Sha’aban is seen as a way to bring stability to the North and to garner more support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
