Alexander Isak is firmly leaning toward Liverpool, despite a stunning £600,000-per-week post-tax deal from Al-Hilal intended to sway him otherwise — www.naijnaira.com reports.
After three goal-rich seasons with Newcastle, during which he found the net 62 times in 109 appearances, the Swedish forward has expressed his desire to leave St. James’ Park. As reported by The Guardian, Al-Hilal — backed by the same PIF ownership as Newcastle — tried to retain him within their network with a massive offer.
Still, according to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Isak has no plans to accept the Middle Eastern package, as his focus remains on a Premier League future at Anfield.
Newcastle, however, won’t let him go easily. Hope noted, “If Liverpool want this deal, they have to pay — there’s no bargain coming.” The Magpies have reportedly priced him at around £150 million.
Paul Joyce of The Times confirmed Isak’s preference for Liverpool and added there have been no discussions with Chelsea, Manchester United, or Al-Hilal.
Liverpool are now preparing an official bid that may break the British transfer record, and it could arrive within days. With the player pushing for Champions League success, all eyes are on Newcastle’s response.
