The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has ordered universities and other higher institutions to wrap up their 2025 admission exercises within specific deadlines — www.naijnaira.com reports.
Federal universities must complete all admission processes by October 31, while private universities have until November 30 to do the same.
Polytechnics and colleges of education will run on a longer timeline, with December 31 set as the closing date for their admissions.
These dates were agreed upon during the July 8 Policy Meeting in Abuja, which brought together heads of tertiary institutions nationwide, according to Premium Times.
JAMB explained that the move is to create fairness for all institutions and to keep the academic calendar stable.
In its bulletin, the board advised schools to complete their admission processes even if they are not ready to resume a new session.
“Such an institution should conduct its admission and archive it,” JAMB said.
Polytechnic and college representatives had earlier complained that universities delay admissions, leaving them at a disadvantage.
The new deadlines, JAMB noted, are designed to ensure every institution gets equal opportunity in the admission cycle.
