The next James Bond is closer to being revealed, as insiders claim producers have narrowed the field to just three actors—Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, and Harris Dickinson, NaijNaira can report.
Variety reports that Amazon and its producers are aiming to cast a British actor under 30, keeping in mind that Elordi, though Australian, still remains a contender. George Lazenby, also Australian, once played Bond in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
Denis Villeneuve, the director of Dune: Part One and Part Two, has officially signed on to direct the upcoming Bond film. In an Amazon press release, Villeneuve said, “Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007.”
“I’m a die-hard Bond fan,” he added. “To me, he’s sacred territory.”
Producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman are now steering the franchise after Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson stepped aside earlier this year.
The franchise shifted under Amazon’s creative control following its $8.5 billion acquisition of MGM in 2022.
Amazon reportedly fast-tracked the next film after negotiating rights back from Broccoli and Wilson in a deal rumored to exceed $1 billion.
No Time to Die in 2021 marked Daniel Craig’s final appearance as Bond, and the next film could arrive by 2026 or 2027.
Liverpool is rumored to be a possible filming location, due to London’s restrictions on film shoots next year.
“There’s no plan for multiverse plots or 1960s throwbacks,” a source said. “This will be a bold, clean slate for 007.”
