Former Delta State governor, James Ibori, may face an additional 10-year prison sentence and the seizure of £100 million in assets in the UK.

This comes after his conviction in a UK court in 2012 for money laundering and fraud charges.

The British authorities had accused Ibori of stealing public funds and laundering them through UK banks and properties.

The trial on confiscation proceedings began in 2017, and Judge David Tomlinson of Southwark Crown Court has made factual findings regarding the amount of money linked to Ibori.

The prosecution argued that £101.5 million should be confiscated from Ibori, and if he fails to pay, he could face an additional prison term.

The judge is expected to issue an order soon.
