Barcelona and Manchester United are both reportedly interested in signing 22-year-old Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong.
The Dutchman has become a pivotal figure in the Bundesliga since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Celtic in January 2021.
Frimpong has also earned a call-up to the Dutch national squad but is yet to make his international debut.
He has enjoyed an excellent 2022/23 season, contributing eight goals and nine assists in 36 outings.
Frimpong’s progress has captured the attention of several top clubs, including Barcelona and Manchester United.
The Catalan giants have held talks with Frimpong’s agent, Jeffrey Lemmert, while recent reports claim that Manchester United have also initiated discussions with the youngster.
Bayern Munich is also said to be interested in Frimpong. With Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future at Old Trafford uncertain, Frimpong could be a viable target for Manchester United.
However, Barcelona’s emergence in the race to sign Frimpong complicates matters for Manchester United.
While the Catalan giants may struggle to afford the 22-year-old, Manchester United should be able to meet Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price.
It remains to be seen where Frimpong will land this summer.
