Singer Jessie J has revealed that she has been diagnosed with early breast cancer. According to the NHS website, breast cancer remains the most common cancer affecting women in the UK, with early detection improving outcomes significantly.
The 37-year-old singer, known for hits such as Price Tag and Domino, shared the news on Instagram. She announced plans to undergo surgery after her upcoming performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball, a mini-festival at Wembley Stadium in London later this month. Jessie J explained she had been “in and out of tests” recently and said, “Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early.'”
Jessie J added a touch of humor despite the seriousness of the diagnosis: “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job.” She reassured fans she would take time off to recover but promised to return “with massive [boobs] and more music.”
In a heartfelt message, Jessie J expressed why she chose to share her diagnosis publicly. “I just wanted to be open and share it,” she said, explaining that speaking out helps her process the news and offers support to others facing similar challenges. “It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse — that’s the bit that kills me.”
The singer, who welcomed her son in 2023, also shared that the diagnosis has given her “incredible perspective.” She added, “But honestly, I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug.”
In response, TV and radio presenter Gaby Roslin commented with “so much love and enormous hugs,” reflecting the support Jessie J has received from the public.
Jessie J’s health journey has included several challenges over the years. She was diagnosed with a heart condition in childhood, suffered a stroke as a teenager, and experienced hearing loss in 2020 due to Meniere’s disease. Last year, she also revealed diagnoses of ADHD and OCD.
Breast cancer remains a serious health issue, and early detection is critical. The NHS advises regular breast checks to identify any changes in size, shape, or feel, which can help catch issues early.
