The Kano State Government has issued a statement warning the governor-elect, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to refrain from making official pronouncements in the form of public advisories, as Governor Abdullahi Ganduje is still in charge of the state.
The statement was in response to a directive issued by the governor-elect’s office, warning individuals and organizations undertaking construction on public places to keep off.
The government stated that the governor-elect’s actions amounted to jumping the gun and could cause unnecessary confusion.
The statement also emphasized that Governor Ganduje remains the governor with executive powers until May 29 and has the right to carry out his functions in the public interest.
The commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs also noted that the previous administration, which the governor-elect had served, had made land allocations in some of the public places mentioned in the advisory.
The government advised the governor-elect to exercise patience and avoid causing tension in the state.
