The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is preparing to administer the oath of office to 57 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria on September 29 — www.naijnaira.com reports.
The ceremony is part of the official events that mark the opening of the 2025/2026 legal year of the Supreme Court, according to a statement released by Dr. Festus Akande, spokesperson of the court.
As tradition demands, the CJN will also deliver a “State of the Judiciary” address, offering a detailed review of the Supreme Court’s work and the wider Nigerian justice system over the past year.
In that same session, the Attorney General of the Federation, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, and the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria will also make presentations.
Justice sector stakeholders see this annual address as a critical moment for evaluating progress and challenges in the judiciary.
The Supreme Court had earlier concluded its 2024/2025 legal year in July before proceeding on its annual recess.
All activities scheduled for the event will begin promptly at 10 am at the Supreme Court headquarters in Abuja.
