Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has called for a full investigation into the recent dispute between Air Peace and Senator Adams Oshiomhole over a boarding incident at Lagos Airport.
According to PREMIUM TIMES, the clash happened on Wednesday when Air Peace accused Senator Oshiomhole of arriving late for his flight and causing a disruption that delayed operations for several minutes. The airline said the Senator showed up about 20 minutes after boarding had closed, which led to him being denied entry onto the aircraft.
“Air Peace strongly condemns the unruly conduct of a prominent Nigerian politician who disrupted airport operations on the morning of Wednesday, June 11, 2025,” the airline said.
Senator Oshiomhole rejected the airline’s version of events. He claimed he had already checked in online ahead of time but was still refused boarding. He also alleged that tickets were being sold at inflated prices to other passengers who were able to pay on the spot.
Sources familiar with the incident said the Senator’s actions might have gone against key aviation safety rules, including sections of Annexe 17 of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Act of 2022 and Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Regulations.
Mr Keyamo confirmed he has spoken with both sides and has asked aviation agencies to carefully review all available evidence. “I also directed the aviation agencies to exercise restraint in jumping to conclusions in line with the time-honoured legal principle of ‘hear all sides’ before reaching judgment,” he said.
