Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, began a three-day working visit to Lagos with a meeting that brought together monarchs and religious leaders – www.naijnaira.com reports.
According to Premium Times, the forum was held at the State House in Marina, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu leading top government officials to welcome the President’s wife.
She was joined by Hajia Nana Shettima and Salamatu Gbajabiamila, who accompanied her to the gathering of traditional rulers and clerics.
The Oba of Lagos, represented by Oba Kabiru Shotobi of Ikorodu, led the Council of Obas and Chiefs to the interactive session.
Tinubu explained that her Renewed Hope Initiative had delivered scholarships, educational materials, and school renovation projects across Lagos.
She noted that women had received financial grants, agricultural training, and business equipment to strengthen food production and local trade.
“From August 2024, thousands of women across Lagos have benefited from these programmes,” she said.
She also revealed a cervical cancer vaccination campaign, sanitary pad distribution, and tuberculosis awareness drive under her office.
Governor Sanwo-Olu praised her as a force lifting vulnerable communities, stressing that her work cut across politics and party lines.
Oba Shotobi urged her to push for constitutional recognition of Lagos LCDAs to strengthen grassroots governance.
