Legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has announced his retirement from football at the age of 45.

Buffon had an illustrious career spanning 28 years, during which he achieved remarkable milestones for both club and country.

He won 10 Serie A titles with Juventus, a Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain, and lifted the World Cup with Italy in 2006.

Buffon, widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, expressed his gratitude to his fans and teammates, stating, “You gave me everything. I gave you everything. We did it together.”

Despite struggling with injuries in his final season, Buffon ended his career where it began, at Parma, who currently compete in the Italian second tier.

He joined Juventus in 2001 and spent the majority of his career with the club, except for a brief stint at PSG in the 2018-19 season.

Buffon also represented Italy 176 times before retiring from international football in 2018.
