The 10th National Assembly of Nigeria had its leaders elected from various states and regions.

Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, was elected as the Senate President.

He had previously served as a senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.

Senator Barau Jibrin, who represented Kano North Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC), was elected Deputy Senate President.

He served as the Vice-Chairman and later Chairman of the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream).

He was later reassigned to the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETfund as Chairman.

Tajudeen Abbas, an educationist and politician, was elected as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He represented the federal constituency of Kaduna State and had served as a lecturer at the Kaduna State Polytechnic and Kaduna State University.

Benjamin Kalu, the lawmaker representing Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State, was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He had previously served as the spokesperson of the Green Chambers and Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs.
