Manchester United has accepted a charge and been fined a hefty sum following an incident during their FA Cup quarter-final win over Fulham.
The charge was issued after a number of United players swarmed referee Chris Kavanagh to appeal for a penalty for a handball by Fulham’s Willian.
Tempers boiled over, resulting in Willian, Alexander Mitrovic, and Fulham boss Marco Silva being sent off.
United was charged for the way in which their players appealed for a penalty by surrounding Kavanagh.
The club has admitted to failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and will face a financial penalty.
Meanwhile, Mitrovic has been handed an eight-game ban for pushing Kavanagh during the on-pitch melee, and Silva has been given a two-match touchline ban and a fine for abusive and insulting behavior towards the match referee.
Arsenal icon Lee Dixon branded Fulham’s implosion at Old Trafford as “absolutely stupid” and a “farce.”
