Man Utd 'lead chase' for Chelsea's Mason Mount as Blues demand £70m

Mason Mount, the England midfielder for Chelsea, may be leaving the team this summer and Manchester United is currently the leading contender to sign him.

While Liverpool has also shown interest, Manchester United has made inquiries about his potential availability and is encouraged by his complicated situation at Stamford Bridge.

Mount’s contract expires in 2024 and Chelsea wants him to stay, but discussions about a new deal have not found an agreement due to the responsible wage structure Chelsea is trying to implement.

Newcastle and Tottenham are also watching the situation closely, and Mauricio Pochettino is expected to hold talks with Mount after his appointment as Chelsea’s new manager.

If Mount sees his future elsewhere, Chelsea is prepared to sell him but will demand in excess of £70m for the 24-year-old.

Manchester United is preparing an offer of around £55m, just short of what Chelsea might want, and talks between the two clubs are expected to take place.
