Manchester City Drop Points Again in 1-1 Draw Against Everton

Manchester City dropped more points in their 1-1 draw at home to struggling Everton on Boxing Day.

Despite taking the lead in the 14th minute through a deflected goal by Bernardo Silva, City failed to secure all three points.

Silva’s effort came after a slide to meet the ball, which deflected off Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and left goalkeeper Jordan Pickford stranded.

Silva missed a chance to double City’s lead in the 33rd minute, blasting wide when well-placed.

Everton capitalized on this miss, equalizing three minutes later through Iliman Ndiaye, whose superb strike from inside the box made it 1-1.

In the second half, City had a golden opportunity to regain the lead when Savinho was fouled in the box by Vitalii Mykolenko.

Erling Haaland stepped up to take the penalty but had his shot saved by Pickford. Haaland’s rebound goal was ruled offside.

Despite further possession and dominance, City struggled to break down Everton’s defense.

Everton managed just four shots in the second half but were content with the draw.

This result means Pep Guardiola’s side has won only 8 of their 18 league matches in the 2024-25 season, continuing a disappointing run as they lose more ground in the title race.
