Marcus Rashford’s potential loan move to Barcelona is edging closer, with the Manchester United forward reportedly agreeing to a significant salary reduction to make the deal happen.
The 27-year-old has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford, having not featured in recent matches under manager Ruben Amorim.
Rashford is eager for a fresh start and has expressed his desire to leave Manchester United, and Barcelona has emerged as his preferred destination.
Reports suggest that Barcelona is working to finalize the deal, with Manchester United holding out for at least £50m (€59.6m, $62.1m) for a permanent transfer.
However, a loan move is now more likely, with Barcelona negotiating a €3m (£2.5m, $3.1m) fee.
Rashford’s large salary of £325,000 a week has posed a challenge, but the English international is said to have accepted the terms set by Barcelona, including the salary sacrifice.
Barcelona is also close to finalizing a sale to fund the move, with Ansu Fati and Eric Garcia being linked with exits.
While coach Hansi Flick is keen to secure Rashford, the deal hinges on Barcelona’s ability to raise funds through player sales.
The transfer could be completed before the window closes on February 3, with Rashford potentially making a move to the Catalan club for the remainder of the season.
