Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager of Chelsea, has expressed his belief that Raheem Sterling will play an important role in the team moving forward.

Sterling, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer, had a challenging first season with the club, scoring only six goals after his £50 million transfer.

However, Pochettino is confident that Sterling can contribute in various ways and help the team achieve their goals.

Sterling’s form decline last season led to his exclusion from the England squad, with the player attributing it to changes in his diet and carrying extra weight.

Pochettino also mentioned that he will be selecting a new club captain following the departure of Cesar Azpilicueta, but he has not yet revealed who it will be.

The decision will be made before Chelsea’s opening game of the season against Liverpool, and Pochettino will assess the players’ behavior and reactions before making his final decision.
