Bryan Mbeumo, newly signed by Manchester United, has singled out Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman as one of the top African footballers currently making waves — www.naijnaira.com reports.
Speaking in an interview with Rio Ferdinand, the Cameroonian winger praised Lookman’s performances for both club and country. Mbeumo, who recently ended a five-year spell with Brentford, said the Nigerian forward is in the elite bracket alongside Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi.
Mbeumo’s admiration for Lookman comes after the Atalanta winger’s exceptional 2024 season.
The 25-year-old scored 20 goals and registered eight assists in the Premier League last term, leading to his high-profile transfer to Old Trafford.
Though born in France, Mbeumo committed to Cameroon in 2022 and has earned 22 caps with six goals for the national team.
“I used to look up to Eto’o. As a striker, I saw how he always delivered. That inspired me to score goals and help my team win,” Mbeumo shared.
When asked about today’s African greats, he responded, “Right now, it’s Salah, Lookman, and Achraf Hakimi. Hakimi is the best right-back in the world.”
Lookman’s AFCON heroics and Europa League triumph earned him the 2024 CAF Player of the Year title.
