A black fedora worn by Michael Jackson just before he performed his iconic moonwalk dance for the first time will be auctioned off in Paris in September.
The King of Pop famously whipped off the hat during a televised Motown concert in 1983 while breaking into his hit song “Billie Jean.”
A few minutes later, he showed off his trademark move, gliding backwards while appearing to move forward.
The fedora is estimated to be worth between 60,000 to 100,000 euros ($65,000-$110,000) and will be the star attraction at an auction of rock-and-roll items by Drouot on September 26.
Other items up for auction include a guitar owned by bluesman T-Bone Walker and a suit worn by Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore.
The sale is being organized by Artpeges and Lemon Auction, who made headlines last year with the sale of the infamous guitar that broke up Oasis.
A full list of the roughly 200 items will be published online by Hotel Drouot on July 4.
