At the 2023 Milken Global Conference in Los Angeles, Nigerian musician and entrepreneur Mr Eazi spoke about the potential for African music to shape global culture and generate opportunities for cultural exchange.

He was part of a panel discussion on the theme “Africa: Next Frontier for the Creative Economy” with other industry leaders.

Mr Eazi highlighted the importance of African music in preserving heritage and exporting African commodities overseas.

However, he also noted that there are challenges in the industry, such as equity participation in investment and infrastructure.

He encouraged African artists to invest in their intellectual property and see themselves as start-ups.

The discussion, moderated by Aubrey Hruby, co-founder of Tofino Capital, explored the opportunities that Africa’s digital and creative economies have to offer in the art, film, and music sectors.

The African market in the creative industries is growing rapidly and is expected to create 20 million jobs by 2050.
