The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced the appointment of Coach Rena Wakama as the Head Coach for Nigeria’s Senior Women’s National basketball team, D’Tigress.
Wakama, a former Nigerian National team player, is currently serving as an Assistant Coach at Stony Brooks University in New York.
Her contract with D’Tigress will run for a two-year period. Wakama’s immediate task will be to prepare the team for the upcoming 2023 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament, where they will defend their title as three-time champions.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from July 28 to August 6 in Kigali, Rwanda.
