N’Golo Kante, a key player for Chelsea, is reportedly leaving the club to sign a €100m-per-season deal with Al-Ittihad, a Saudi Pro League team.

Kante, who has been with Chelsea for seven years, is expected to sign with Al-Ittihad after holding a meeting with Saudi representatives.

The deal is said to be worth €200m over two years. Kante will join former Real Madrid player Karim Benzema at Al-Ittihad, who won the league last season.

The team will compete against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr for trophies during the 2023-24 campaign.

Despite leaving Chelsea, Kante’s status as a club icon is secured, having helped the team win the Premier League title in 2017 and putting in a player-of-the-match performance in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City.

Al-Ittihad directors arrived in London on Tuesday night to finalize Kante’s contract with representatives from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which recently took control of four leading clubs in the country, including the champions.
