After months of closure, the Nigerian government has given the green light for the importation of vehicles through the Seme land border.
The decision was announced by Ibrahim Musa, the Director of Road Transport in the Ministry of Transportation, during an ECOWAS meeting between officials from Nigeria and Benin Republic.
The move comes after complaints from freight forwarders operating at the Seme border.
The Customs Area Controller of Seme Border Command, Dera Nnadi, also expressed concern over the reduction in revenue since the suspension of vehicle imports through land borders by the previous administration.
The former Minister of Transportation had promised to take the issue to the Federal Executive Council, and the memo has now been adopted and given to the new government.
