X5 was supposed to be have been here a week ago but HMD Global postpone the launch event. However, the Finnish tech giant has done the needful as they officially launched the Nokia X5 at an event in China today (July 18 2018).
Pre-order started immediately and it will start shipping out tomorrow within China. There is currently no information on when it will be available in other countries.
Though it might be arriving in other market as Nokia 5.1 Plus just like the Nokia X6 that was launched 2 months ago in China will start shipping out to other countries tomorrow as Nokia 6.1 Plus.
Just like the X6, the Nokia X5 featured the trending Notch display with 19:9 aspect ratio.
Nokia X5 Specs & Overview.
With the specs that accompany the X5 Nokia and its launch price, the mid range market of Android smartphones just got a powerful competitor. It is a new and worthy addition to the long list of already available budget phones.
Design & Display.
One thing you can’t help but notice immediately you set your eyes on the Nokia 5.1 Plus is its aesthetic design featuring front and back full glass unibody with polycarbonate frame.
Oh Yes, and the Notch display which is wider than what we saw on the X6. To be precise, it is similar to the likes of iPhone X and Xiaomi Mi 8. The Notch housed the front camera, flash light, earpiece and couple other sensors.
The X5 sports a thin chin which is also visible considering the fact that it host the Nokia logo at its middle.
At the top of the device are the 3.5mm headphone jack and microphone while the bottom host the USB Type-C port and the speaker.
On the right side are the power and volume buttons while the SD + Sim card tray slot resides on the left hand side of the device.
At the mid top of the Nokia X5 rear are the vertical arrangement of the dual rear camera, led flash, fingerprint sensor (one of the security measures put in place) and the Nokia Logo.
X5 from Nokia is a 5.86-inch smartphone featuring a vibrant IPS LCD 2.5D glass notch display with HD+ screen resolution (720 x 1520 pixels to be precise) and 19:9 aspect ratio which amounts to 84 percent screen to body ratio.
To help protect the eyes from the colorful screen, the Nokia (NK) X5 comes with a protection mode which when activated filter out the blue light emission from the screen thereby reducing eye strain.
Operating System, Processor & Memory.
Nokia X5 runs on pure Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and according to HMD Global, it will be getting the Android P once it is available to the public in the next couple of months.
Other than that, the Finnish tech giant promised to push constant security updates to the device to keep you and your personal life private.
It is powered by Octa Core Mediatek Helio P60 with clock speed up to 2.0GHz. Assisting the processing power are ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU and 3GB/4GB RAM.
The device is available in two (2) variants with discrepancies only in memory. There is a 3GB/32GB variant and another with 4GB/64GB. You have external storage space that support SD card up to 256GB.
Multi-tasking and general performance on this device is fluid with no hiccup or lag.
Battery, Camera & Connectivity.
Nokia X5 is packed with AI powered 3060 mAh battery capacity which the company said can last up to 6 hours of gaming or 20 hours of music or 12 hours of video playback. This means you can expect a full day of fair usage from this device.
Camera wise, the NK X5 is equipped with a dual 13MP (f/2.0 aperture, 1.12um pixel size, PDAF) + 5MP rear camera with LED flash at the rear.
The dual back camera is AI powered with support for portrait mode, Pro Mode which enables you to adjust the ISO, white balance, exposure and couple more advance settings.
Its front (selfie) camera is 8MP with f/2.2 aperture and 80 degree wide viewing angle and support for selfie portrait, HDR, beauty mode and more. The front camera also support face unlock feature powered by AI.
Like most Nokia phones launched in the past, X5 also supports bothie mode which enables you to use both the front and rear camera at the same time.
It supports Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, dual band Wi-Fi, Type-C USB and dual Nano sim. You have options to choose between Black, Blue and White colors.
The fingerprint scanner can also be use to authenticate or complete a payment.
Price of Nokia X5 in Nigeria.
The device is currently not available in Nigeria. You can only order from Chinese sites like Aliexpress.
