Lagos Assembly Set to Reinstate Obasa as Speaker

Here Is The Easy Money-Making Trick Everyone Is Talking About! Learn More Here!

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly pressured the Lagos State House of Assembly to reinstate Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker, just three weeks after his impeachment.

Sources revealed that Tinubu, citing political consequences, urged lawmakers to allow Obasa’s return, with the promise that he would resign on his own terms after a short period.

Despite the push, some lawmakers remain uneasy, particularly those involved in Obasa’s January 13 impeachment following allegations of misappropriating billions in public funds.

Obasa’s impeachment led to the appointment of Lasbat Mojisola Meranda as Speaker, supported by 32 out of 40 lawmakers.

However, Obasa has refused to vacate the Speaker’s official residence, continuing to stay there despite his removal.

Sources also suggest that First Lady Remi Tinubu may have influenced her husband’s decision, intervening to stop the EFCC from arresting Obasa, though not opposing a corruption probe.

While political divisions within Lagos deepen, lawmakers are hesitant to oppose Tinubu’s directive, given his strong control over the state’s politics.

Sources indicate that Obasa met with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to finalize his return, which could happen as early as next week.

Both Obasa and Meranda declined to comment, and a presidential spokesman denied any knowledge of the directive.
