Super Eagles wing-back Ola Aina has expressed his willingness to take another penalty for Nigeria if given the opportunity, despite his miss against South Africa in the AFCON semi-final.
Aina, who has been an integral part of the Nigerian team in the tournament, spoke ahead of the AFCON final against Ivory Coast on Sunday.
Reflecting on his missed penalty against South Africa, Aina acknowledged the unpredictability of football and expressed confidence in his penalty-taking abilities.
He stated, “Football is a roller coaster. I could put my money on it, I could put my house on it, I could put everything on it that I would’ve scored my penalty [against South Africa]. Normally I back myself because I am very good at them.”
Despite his miss, Aina credited his teammates and goalkeeper Nwabali for saving the day and securing the victory for Nigeria.
Grateful for their support, he affirmed his readiness to step up and take another penalty if the situation arises in the final against Ivory Coast.
