Spanish-born Nigerian striker Kevin Carlos Omoruyi is attracting strong interest from Villarreal and Bologna as both clubs search for attacking reinforcements this summer.
According to report, Villarreal are actively pursuing Omoruyi as they prepare for life without Thierno Barry, who joined the La Liga side from FC Basel in 2024. Barry had an impressive season, scoring 11 goals in 35 matches, and is now on Everton’s radar.
Omoruyi, who joined FC Basel from Yverdon Sport for over €3 million last summer, made a strong impact in the Swiss Super League. The 24-year-old striker scored 15 goals and provided two assists in 40 games during the 2024–25 season. His efforts helped Basel claim both the Swiss Super League title and the Swiss Cup.
Sport reports that Villarreal and Bologna transfer target Kevin Carlos Omoruyi could move this summer. He is valued at €4.5 million and is under contract until 2028.
The FC Basel striker is known for his strength, aerial ability, and two-footed finishing. Across his club career in Spain and Switzerland, he has scored 50 goals in 132 appearances.
Born in Ceuta to a Spanish mother and Nigerian father, Omoruyi has openly expressed his preference to play for the Nigeria Super Eagles over Spain, saying, “I want to represent Nigeria at international level.”
While his future remains uncertain, Spain or Italy could be the next chapter for this emerging talent.
