Governor Biodun Oyebanji has dismissed members of the Ekiti State Executive Council just months before the June 20, 2026 governorship election – www.naijnaira.com reports.
The announcement, made by Secretary to the State Government Habibat Adubiaro, confirmed that all commissioners and special advisers must hand over to their ministries’ permanent secretaries or most senior officials.
“Governor Oyebanji thanks the affected members of the State Executive Council and wishes them success in their future endeavours,” the statement read.
The decision spares key portfolios, including Justice, Health, Agriculture, Education, Works, Trade and Investment, along with two special advisers.
Directors General in charge of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, the SDGs and Project Monitoring, and the Bureau of Public Procurement will also remain in office.
Oyebanji, who took office on October 16, 2022, under the APC, will seek re-election in 2026.
