Victor Boniface has opened up about how a lucrative move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr worth over ₦80 billion collapsed at the final moment, NaijNaira can report.

Speaking on The Culture League podcast, the Super Eagles striker said he had already packed his bags and handed out his designer clothes, expecting the deal to go through. The original report appeared on The Culture League, where Boniface discussed the emotional toll of the failed move.

“I had agreed personal terms. I passed my medical. Everything was ready,” Boniface said. “Then they picked someone else.”

Al-Nassr opted to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa instead, despite having reached a club-to-club agreement with Bayer Leverkusen.

Boniface revealed he called his brother to weigh both the Saudi offer and one from Italy. “He first told me to go to Italy for football reasons. Then he saw the money on Tunde Ednut’s page and changed his mind.”

The 23-year-old admitted that both he and the club were on board for the deal. “It was €70 million for the club. They also wanted it.”

Boniface is now linked with AC Milan after registering 32 goals and 12 assists since joining Leverkusen in July 2023.
