According to party sources, President Bola Tinubu is not currently considering firing the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu.
There have been speculations about Adamu’s uncertain fate, especially as the party has rescheduled its National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.
While some party members are critical of Adamu’s leadership style and have called for his resignation due to allegations of financial impropriety, Tinubu is reportedly not planning to remove him at this time.
The closed-door meeting held at the APC national headquarters was seen as an effort by the party’s leadership to garner support from state chairmen ahead of the upcoming meetings.
It is feared that the NEC, which holds significant decision-making power, may remove Adamu due to the allegations against him.
However, sources suggest that Tinubu’s control over the party and his recent appointment of Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) indicate that Adamu is unlikely to be removed soon.
Ultimately, the decision to remove or retain Adamu rests with President Tinubu, who can influence the NEC members’ vote of confidence.
