Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, was recently asked about Erling Haaland’s potential as the “perfect striker” in his system, and his response has gone viral.
Many had doubts about Haaland’s ability to adapt to Guardiola’s possession-based style of play when he joined the team last summer.
However, Haaland had a record-breaking debut season, scoring 52 goals in 53 games and breaking the Premier League record for most goals in a season.
Despite this success, some still wondered if Haaland could improve even further.
When asked about Haaland’s progress and how many steps he had left to become the perfect striker, Guardiola responded by saying that Haaland has already adapted quite well to Manchester City, considering he has scored over 60 goals.
Guardiola also mentioned that Haaland has the desire to improve and is in the perfect environment to do so at Manchester City.
The team will be defending their Premier League title in the coming months, starting with a pre-season game against Atletico Madrid and the Community Shield match against Arsenal.
