President Bola Tinubu recently had a private meeting with James Ibori, the former governor of Delta state, in Abuja.

This meeting took place after Ibori was part of a group of governors who met with President Tinubu earlier in the day.

The details of their meeting have not been disclosed.

It is worth noting that Ibori was convicted in the UK in 2012 for multiple counts of fraud, totaling nearly £50 million.

He was accused of stealing approximately $165 million from the oil-rich state.

Ibori’s arrest came after British police discovered a purchase order for a private jet made through his lawyer in London.

After his release in 2016, Ibori was placed in immigration detention.

He appealed against his conviction, alleging misconduct by British police and prosecutors, but was only awarded £1 in compensation.

Prior to his conviction in the UK, Ibori had a history of criminal activities, including theft and handling a stolen credit card.
