The Enugu police command has confirmed the death of Dons Ude, a former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.

Dons Ude had been missing since April 22 when he left his Enugu residence in a white Toyota Highlander SUV to an undisclosed location.

Marks found on his body strongly suggest that he was murdered, and his abandoned vehicle was later recovered on April 26 at Ngwo in Udi local government Area.

Ahmed Ammani, the commissioner of police in Enugu, stated that operatives from the homicide section of the state criminal investigation department and tactical squad will commence an investigation into the incident.

Until Wednesday when his body was found, his family was still searching for him.

Dons Ude was a former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.

His death comes almost a month after the election in the state, and his disappearance raised fears that he might have been kidnapped.

The police have assured the public that they are doing everything within their power to uncover the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to justice.
