The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied reports that Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been arrested and is in their custody.
Emefiele’s suspension on Friday sparked rumors of his arrest by the secret police, but the DSS has released a statement on Twitter stating that he is not in detention.
The reason for Emefiele’s suspension and the current status of his employment with the CBN remain unclear.
