President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive to recall all Nigerian ambassadors, both career and non-career.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.

The recall of the Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Ishola, prompted inquiries, to which Tuggar clarified that all ambassadors have been recalled on the instructions of President Tinubu.

“Ambassadors as representatives of the country, serve at the behest of the president and it’s his prerogative to send or recall them from any country.”

The reason behind this recall was not disclosed.

The current ambassadors, including Ishola, were appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, but Tinubu recalled Ishola following the expiration of his tenure.

It is within the president’s prerogative to send or recall ambassadors from any country, as they serve as representatives of the country.
