PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi confirms interest in signing Marcus Rashford in January

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has suggested that Marcus Rashford could emerge as a target for the French giants next year after impressing for England at the World Cup.

Rashford has chipped in with three goals in four games over the course of the tournament so far and will be pushing to start for the Three Lions against France in Saturday’s all-important last eight meeting in Qatar.

Rashford was linked with a move to PSG over the summer after a difficult few years with Manchester United but ultimately ended up staying at Old Trafford, where he remains tied down until the end of the season as things stand.

However, it seems as though Al-Khelaifi may be keen on reigniting his interest in bringing Rashford to the French capital if he fails to extend his stay at United over the coming months.

“He’s another player that is really amazing,” Al-Khelaifi told Sky Sports. “And for free? To have Rashford for free, every club would run after him, definitely.

“We’re not hiding it, we spoke before and [we had an] interest. But the moment was not a good moment for both sides. Maybe, summer, why not?

“Today if he’s a free agent of course we can talk to him directly but we are not going to talk to him now. Let him focus on the World Cup. Then after in January, hopefully, if we’re interested we will talk to him.”

It remains to be seen whether Rashford will end up signing a new deal at United or if he will decide to embark on a fresh challenge with PSG at the end of the season.

He will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from the start of next month, which could see PSG muscle in to snap him up before the January transfer window closes.
