Real Madrid’s midfielder Jude Bellingham is set to miss around a month due to a calf injury suffered during training on Friday.
Real Madrid confirmed the injury in a statement: “Following tests carried out today on Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid’s medical team, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantaris muscle in his right leg.”
Although the club refrained from specifying the duration of his absence, it’s expected to be significant.
Bellingham’s injury means he will miss several key fixtures, including La Liga matches against Real Valladolid, Las Palmas, and Real Betis.
Additionally, he will be unavailable for England‘s Nations League matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland in September.
Real Madrid’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti, mentioned earlier that Bellingham had taken a knock, and the club was in the process of evaluating the situation.
This injury is a significant setback for both club and country, as Bellingham was instrumental in Real Madrid‘s success last season, contributing to their Champions League and La Liga double.
This season, Bellingham has been playing in a central midfield role, adjusting to the arrival of striker Kylian Mbappé, after having played in a more advanced position last season.
The 21-year-old midfielder will now focus on recovery with hopes of returning in time for Real Madrid’s first Champions League match of the season, scheduled between September 17-19.
Bellingham’s absence will be keenly felt, as his performances have been crucial to Real Madrid’s strategy and success on the pitch.
The club will be eagerly awaiting his return to full fitness.
