The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has firmly rejected calls for a coup to overthrow the democratically elected government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement titled “Military Better Under Democracy,” the DHQ emphasized its commitment to democracy and its refusal to engage in any unconstitutional actions.
The statement condemned the reports calling for military interference as unpatriotic and an attempt to distract the Armed Forces of Nigeria from their constitutional responsibilities.
It reiterated that the military is happy and better under democracy and will not participate in any acts to undermine the hard-earned democracy in the country.
The AFN, under the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff General CG Musa, remains dedicated to upholding constitutional authority and will not be swayed from its well-defined roles outlined in the 1999 constitution (as amended).
