Rochas Okorocha, former Governor of Imo State, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when his convoy was attacked by hoodlums.
The incident occurred while he was being transported to Imo State for the burial of the mother of former governor Emeka Ihedioha.
One of Okorocha’s orderlies was killed and his Chief Security Officer and a driver were kidnapped during the attack.
The incident took place at Ihube community along Okigwe/Enugu Expressway.
Okorocha confirmed the assassination attempt during a birthday celebration in Ikeduru Local Council of the state.
He expressed his anger at the situation, stating that he had been safe in Enugu but was attacked in his own state.
One of his aides revealed that the vehicles in the convoy were damaged by bullets and that the kidnapped security men were released after interrogation.
