Ex-Manchester United striker, Michael Owen has described as huge the club’s decision to hand the captain’s armband to Cristiano Ronaldo for their game against Aston Villa.
Recall that Ronaldo was recently punished by the Red Devils’ manager, Erik ten Hag, after storming out of the team during their win over Tottenham in October.
The 37-year-old forward was banished from the first team and dropped for the game against Chelsea which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Ronaldo has started all Manchester United games since after the game against Chelsea and captains after ten years against Villa on Sunday.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen said, “A couple of weeks ago he stormed out of his teammates and was punished for the game against Chelsea and since then he’s not only got back to the team but is starting as the captain today. A huge one for him.”
