According to reports in Portugal, Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting Lisbon, is unlikely to make a move to either Liverpool or West Ham for the upcoming season.
Both clubs have shown significant interest in the 39-year-old coach, with Liverpool searching for a replacement for Jurgen Klopp and West Ham uncertain about the future of their current head coach, David Moyes.
Amorim has also attracted attention from Chelsea, but it was during his recent visit to London that he seemed to show favor towards West Ham.
However, upon returning to Lisbon, he remained vague about the details of his trip. Despite the interest from both clubs, it appears that Amorim may choose to stay with Sporting Lisbon.
Sporting Lisbon is currently enjoying a successful season, sitting seven points clear at the top of the Portuguese top flight and also competing in the Taca de Portugal. Any English club interested in acquiring Amorim’s services would have to pay his £12.8 million release clause.
If Amorim decides not to join Liverpool, the club will have to reconsider their options for a successor to Klopp. Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso was previously pursued by Liverpool but confirmed that he would be honoring his contract with the Bundesliga champions.
Other potential candidates for the Liverpool job include Brighton’s Roberto de Zerbi and Feyenoord’s Arne Slot. There has also been speculation about the possibility of Jose Mourinho returning to the Premier League, with his recent appearance at a Liverpool match fueling rumors.
However, it is unlikely that Mourinho will be taking over at Liverpool, as he has a close relationship with Fulham boss Marco Silva and lives near their stadium.
