Lecturers at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo, Ondo State have gone on strike due to non-payment of their salaries for 13 months.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, RUGIPO chapter, has stated that they will not participate in the first semester examinations unless the government takes action.

The decision was made at a congress of the union and the strike began on Friday.

The union is demanding full payment of all outstanding salary arrears and has emphasized that the decision is binding on all financial members.

The congress also highlighted the hardship faced by members due to the current fuel prices and backlog of unpaid salaries.

The union is urging the state government to assist in clearing the salary arrears.
