Gift Orban has agreed to join Serie A side Hellas Verona after TSG Hoffenheim sanctioned a loan move with a buy option – www.naijnaira.com reports.
Soccernet.ng confirmed that the Super Eagles prospect had multiple offers on the table but chose Verona as the best opportunity to revive his career.
Transfer insider Florian Plettenberg revealed the deal is complete, pending routine medical checks and paperwork before the Nigerian striker is unveiled.
The Italian club will pay €1 million as the loan fee and take over his full salary for the season.
An option to buy has been inserted at €9 million, meaning the overall transfer package could reach €10 million if Verona decide to keep him.
Orban only arrived at Hoffenheim in January from Olympique Lyon in a deal worth around €9–12 million, including add-ons.
However, his spell in Germany failed to deliver consistent minutes, pushing both player and club to consider a move elsewhere.
The 21-year-old has already shown flashes of his scoring instinct, and Verona believe he can add much-needed firepower as they battle to stay competitive in Serie A.
“Orban still has huge potential, he just needs the right platform,” sources close to the deal said.
