Samsung recently expanded its Galaxy S25 lineup with the new Galaxy S25 Edge, raising questions about the future of the Galaxy S25 Plus. According to WCCFTech, the Galaxy S25 Ultra sold 2.55 million units in its first month, while the S25 Plus sold only 840,000.
The Galaxy S25 Edge fits between the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra in price and features. It starts at $1,099 for 256GB of storage, edging closer to the S25 Plus’s $999 starting price. This overlap could signal Samsung phasing out the Plus model.
Sales data shows the S25 Plus struggles to compete. The Ultra’s sales are three times higher, suggesting power users prefer the premium model. Meanwhile, buyers who want a large screen but a lighter design may find the S25 Edge more appealing.
A key point is the Edge’s combination of a large display and a thinner, lighter body. One user summed it up well: “The Galaxy S25 Edge embodies everything I like about the Galaxy S25 Plus — better ergonomics and no compromises on display quality.”
The S25 Plus retains advantages like a telephoto triple camera and a larger battery. However, many customers prioritize size and weight over those features, which benefits the Edge.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will launch globally on May 30. Its arrival may mark a shift in Samsung’s smartphone strategy by gradually replacing the Plus model with a more refined option.
