The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed widespread speculations suggesting the return of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Reports circulating on social media had alleged that the notorious unit, which was officially scrapped on October 11, 2020, in response to the historic EndSARS protests, had resumed operations.
However, in a statement issued on Monday morning, Police spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi categorically denied the claims, emphasizing that SARS remains permanently dissolved.
“The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is not back in operation. Recent reports regarding its reformation and rules of engagement should be approached with caution. We urge Nigerians to verify information from credible sources before accepting it as fact,” the statement read.
Adejobi encouraged citizens to rely on the Nigeria Police Force’s verified social media channels for authentic updates and official statements.
