Senate Commences Ministerial Nominee Screening, Implements Access Restrictions

The Nigerian Senate has begun the process of screening 28 ministerial nominees that were sent to them by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The list of nominees was submitted to the Senate on July 27, and includes both expected and surprise names.

The screening, which was originally scheduled for 11:00 am, experienced a delay and eventually started at 12:48 PM.

In addition, access to the National Assembly was restricted to only staff, accredited individuals, nominees, and a limited number of family members and associates.

Despite these restrictions, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, confirmed that a quorum was present and the plenary session began.
